Biography

Nadine Blum may seem unassuming, but she is a force to be reckoned with. When Nadine sees a problem that needs fixing, whether it be barriers to child care, consumers losing money due to expiring gift cards, or an employer committing unfair labour practices, she will figure out what needs to be done, and not stop until the problem is resolved.

Nadine has a broad labour and employment law practice. She has challenged unjust employer policies, helped unions protect job security for their workers, and advised clients taking a stand against discrimination and harassment in the workplace. She has assisted teachers, public servants, hospital employees, construction unions, and many others find practical solutions to workplace problems, and where necessary, has litigated these issues on their behalf.

As an advocate, Nadine knows how to craft her client’s facts into a compelling story that shows why their rights should prevail. She is also part of Goldblatt Partners’ secret weapon – our research team – and her creative legal mind has devised winning arguments for cases in front of decision-makers from labour arbitrators to Supreme Court of Canada judges. She enjoys digging into a complex and novel legal issue and devising a strategy to address it.

Nadine approaches clients and grievors with the same compassion, empathy and creativity that she demonstrates elsewhere in her professional and private life. She founded the Pro Bono Four Villages Legal Clinic, which connects GP lawyers with vulnerable workers in need of legal advice. She has also fundraised thousands of dollars for small community organizations through a speed-dating group, and has organized events such as a labour history walking tour, bakery bicycling tour and labour murder mystery party in support of the firm’s annual Stephen Lewis Foundation fundraiser.

Nadine received her law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School. She was called to the bar in 2006, after completing a clerkship at the Court of Appeal for Ontario. Prior to joining the firm, she was legal counsel on the Air India inquiry.

A proud Torontonian, Nadine loves to explore the city’s ravines and parks, ideally while eating pastries.
