Steven Barrett discussed collective bargaining and the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms at the annual meeting of the Canadian Industrial Relations Association.

Tuesday, April 14th:

Emma Phillips presented a seminar on privacy issues in the workplace for representatives of the Southern Ontario Newspaper Guild. The seminar included such issues as when and how an employer is allowed to monitor employees’ use of e-mail and internet, and when unions may use the employer’s server for union communications.

Wednesday, April 15th:

A number of SGM's experts in bankruptcy, insolvency and pension law gave a seminar for SGM clients on "Shutdowns, Bankruptcy and Restructuring: A Guide for Unions".

Tuesday, April 21st:

Darrell Brown participated in a roundtable discussion on “Pension Law Reform in Today’s Challenging Economic Times: What Happens Next?” at Osgoode Professional Development's program on Pension Plans in a Changing Economy: Managing the Legal Risks.

Thursday April 30th:

Lorne Richmond addressed "Recession issues: Local area modifications, project agreements, stabilization funds, enabling clauses" at Insight's Construction Labour Relations conference.
