Eli Gedalof is a member of SGM's labour law group. He joined the firm in 2003, after completing a clerkship with the Chief Justice of the Ontario Court of Appeal.
Eli's practice focuses on all types of proceedings before the Ontario Labour Relations Board, including certification, unfair labour practice and related employer matters, and construction industry grievances. His practice also includes public sector bargaining, appeals and applications for judicial review. Eli is a regular speaker on issues relating to the Ontario Labour Relations Board, especially on organizing and the construction industry. He also updates Ontario Labour Relations Board Law and Practice, SGM's leading publication on labour law in Ontario.
Before joining SGM, during his five-year mission to seek out and explore new areas of legal practice, Eli worked at the B.C. Human Rights Commission, did criminal defence work for Legal Aid in Nunavut Territory, and worked for a law firm in Newfoundland.
Eli received his law degree from the University of Victoria, where he was the recipient of several awards, including the McIntyre Medal, awarded to the graduate who best demonstrates outstanding achievement in community service, student leadership and academic excellence. Eli has a bachelor of arts degree from McGill University, where he also played drums in a fusion band.
