Criminal Law

United States of America v. Dynar

Dynar is the leading Canadian judgment on the law of "impossible attempts" – i.e., the circumstances in which people who believe, incorrectly, that they are committing a crime can be convicted of attempting to commit that crime, even though what they have actually done is not illegal. The Supreme Court of Canada ordered Dynar's extradition to the United States to face "money laundering" charges, even though the money he was accused of "laundering" was not, in fact, proceeds of crime.

Dynar was represented by Frank Addario.
