Emma Phillips is a member of SGM’s labour law group. She joined the firm in 2006, after clerking for Justice Marie Deschamps at the Supreme Court of Canada.
Emma's practice focuses on labour relations in the university sector, employment and pay equity matters, and human rights. She also has a particular interest in privacy and freedom of information law.
Emma received her law degree from the University of Toronto in 2005, where she also completed a masters degree in criminology. She also has a bachelor of arts degree (summa cum laude) from Harvard University. Emma was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 2006.
Emma is a member of the Canadian Association of Labour Lawyers and Avocats Sans Frontières. She has published a number of articles, including:
